Biography of
Dr. Deborah Richmond Foulkes, FSA Scot
Dr. Deborah Richmond Foulkes is a recognized authority on the Scottish Wars for National Independence during the 13th and 14th centuries. She is an avid historian and family researcher; and the author of two books with the third volume of the Douglas Trilogy expected out later in 2006; true stories about the lives of her ancestors, the medieval Douglas Clan. She was recently interviewed in Avoch, in the Scottish Highlands for a show aired by BBC Scotland where she articulated her ideas on 13th century castle life, siege warfare and guerilla tactics of Scottish rebels specifically relating to Andrew de Moray and the North Rising of the late 13th century; the history of that region during the times of William Wallace.
Her first book, My Truth Lies in the Ruins and its companion volume, In the Shadow of My Truth are described best as the ‘sequel to the Braveheart legacy;’ the real-life hero of her books being William le Hardi Douglas, the first nobleman to join with William Wallace in rebellion. Dr. Richmond Foulkes has visited Scotland over thirty times in the last three years; with trips to England, Belgium, and Spain to research and photograph each location mentioned in her books. She has also discovered some original documents and put together some related events that had been previously overlooked by other historians; making her stories more complete and compelling.
