Whether you're showing off delicious food, unwrapping gifts, or singing Auld Lang Syne with a wee dram; we want to see that Clan Douglas pride! Show us how you include the Clan Douglas tartan in this year's festivities and you could win a Clan Douglas blue polo shirt.

For a chance to win, simply follow these rules:

Your picture submission must include the Clan Douglas tartan or crest.
Submit the picture by posting it on our Facebook wall or by emailing it to: clandouglassociety@gmail.com.
We will be begin accepting contest submissions December 18th, 2011 and will close the contest on January 6th, 2012. The winner will be announced January 7th, 2012. Please make sure to check our Facebook wall for the announcement, your Facebook messages, or email on that day. You will have until January 11th, 2012 to claim your prize.

CDSNA Website Plans for 2012

A new year is quickly approaching and the website team has some great plans for it. Below we'll share a glimpse of that with you!

A Helpful Direction

The genealogy quest is a fun and often tedious part of determining your heritage. We encourage prospective and current members to discover their genealogy, but we must clarify that we do not have the resources available on our website to help you determine it. The 'Genealogy' section will be replaced with the 'Are You a Douglas?' section to help everyone find suitable paths in their pursuit for information.
The Sept section will soon contain an information page on each surname.
The web team would like to recruit volunteers to write short history guides.

We Want To See More!

Naturally, our website was meant to thrive on your stories, pictures, and discussions. So starting this December, we'll have one of our first contests to encourage submissions! Details for the contests will be posted on the official website next week.

New Year's Cleaning

We would like to kindly ask all members to log into the website once to show us you would like to keep your account. Member accounts that are found to be inactive after January 5th, 2012 will be removed. Please feel free to message us if you are having trouble logging in.

We reserved a block of 10 rooms, and rates are $79.00 per night (plus tax) and includes a breakfast buffet from 6am-10am. The cut-off date is August 19, 2011 for reservations. If you are planning to stay at our host hotel, please mention CDSNA (Clan Douglas Society of North America) and if you plan to book online the Code is CDS.

We will also be hosting a Barbeque/Potluck Friday September 2nd. If you are planning on joining us, please email or call us. We will be coordinating what food or item is needed for that night. Due to limited space in the hotel refrigerator, we recommend you bring an ice chest. The hotel will also provide an oven to heat up food that needs WARMING ONLY. Mark and I will be providing the meat dishes.

We recommend everyone bring a jacket or sweater; nights are cold and windy at times.

Clan Douglas 2011 AGM & AGM Banquet Reminder

If you plan on attending the The Kansas City Scottish Highland Games and the Clan Douglas 2011 AGM & AGM Banquet on the evening of June 11, reserve your place before May 15, 2011 by sending a check or money order (made out to Clan Douglas of North America) along with a list of persons attending to our Missouri Regent, Harold Edington, 11907 Alberta St., Sugar Creek, MO 64054-1459. Please respond as soon as possible since the numbers attending could possibly affect our dining area. The cost: $25 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. For children 10 and under, the cost is $12.50 per child.

The host hotel for this year’s AGM, Fairfield Inn & Suites KCI, 11820 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City, Missouri 64153, reports that there are 15-20 rooms still available for reservation. Fairfield Inn & Suites KCI is just minutes from the Kansas City International Airport and approximately 12 miles from Scottish Festival site. The room rate is $81.59 per night ($69.00 plus the 16% or so KC Hotel tax). This rate is available until May 15, after which the non-discount rate is based on hotel availability (and appears to be higher.) If you are coming to Kansas City for the AGM and need lodgings, call the Fairfield Inn & Suites KCI [Phone: 816-464-2424].

Admission cost: 8 and under free - over age 8 - $6.00

$20 for a family - for a full day's entertainment.

Location: Maize Valley Winery - Hartville, Ohio
