Pleasanton Scottish Games and Gathering

A call to all of the Clan Douglas members and followers to attend the worlds largest Scottish Games, please mark on your calendar September 3 - 5, 2010.  This is the dates of the Pleasanton Scottish Games and Gathering  held at the Alameda Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA

Our host hotel for the games is the Residence Inn by Marriott 1000 Airways Blvd. Livermore, CA  94551, (Phone)  925-373-1800.  Please contact the hotel and tell them you are part of The Clan Douglas Society and they will give you the special rate of $ 79.00 + tax for a studio room and if  you have a large family or just want to split the cost of a room with friends for $ 129.00 + tax you can get their Penthouse Suite that easily sleeps 6.  This rate also includes a full breakfast. We will have our annual BBQ and Potluck starting at 6:30 PM on September 3rd at the hotel pool and BBQ area.  Cora & I will provide the meat and pilaf. This is always a great time with wonderful food and yes it includes a wee dram or two.  We hope to see all of you there and look forward to seeing you all.

Call For Clan Douglas Annual Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Clan Douglas Meritorious awards.

 

Annual Clan Douglas Meritorious Awards

Each year Clan Douglas recognizes up to three members for their meritorious service to our extended family. We have a lot of volunteers who spend numerous hours representing our family at games and Scottish events and we use this award to recognize their dedicated service. 

 

Meritorious Award nominations are solicited annually from the general membership, regents and board of directors via email and article in newsletter. Nominees must be a member of Clan Douglas and current in their dues. Each nomination must be accompanied with a written recommendation of 1 to 2 paragraphs describing the meritorious service of the nominee.

 

The nominations are reviewed by an Awards Committee appointed by the President.  The Awards Committee makes a recommendation of up to three potential recipients to the Board of Directors who make the final selections. The individuals selected are awarded a plaque and recognized at the Annual General Meeting.

Once nominees have been received, the committee will review all candidates and make a recommendation to the board for their approval.

CDSNA Needs Your Event Photos & A Volunteer Editor

As the highland festivities near, CDSNA would like to see what our members are up to! We would like to encourage members to take photos of your event's clan tent, marches and visitors.
