Meet Our Colorado Co-Regent

Check out a glimpse of Chuck Mirabile's history with Clan Douglas! Also, take a look at the states that need a regent in the Regent section of our website.

CDSNA: What is your current occupation?
CM: I work for the Parks Department of Denver's largest suburb, Aurora.

CDSNA: How did you first hear of the Clan Douglas Society of North America?
CM: I first heard of my Scottish heritage when my sister got me a membership in the society for Christmas. Before that I didn't know much about the history of my family.

CDSNA: Can you remember your first Scottish festival or Highland Games?
CM: My first festival was in Highlands Ranch. We saw one of those news stories about what to do this weekend, and decided to check it out. That's where we met Bill Douglas, and Troy Dunning. We had a great time and decided to go to the Estes Park festival about a month later, and we were hooked.

CDSNA: What is your favorite aspect of this Scottish community?
CM: My favorite aspect has to be the history. Ive always been a history buff. I pretty much live on the history channel, read mostly history books, and research history on the web. The kilt is cool too!

CDSNA: What made you decide to become the Colorado Co-regent?
CM: Adam, the other presiding Colorado Co-regent, and I had decided that we wanted to get more involved. We were having so much fun at the festivals that it seemed like the most logical step. When Troy asked us if we would be interested in becoming regents we jumped at the idea. We have been having a great time ever since.

CDSNA: How far have you traced your Scottish roots?
CM: We've gone as far back as the Revolution, when my ancestor came over. I haven't researched much further.

CDSNA: Have you ever been to Scotland? If not, do you have plans to ever make a trip there?
CM: Unfortunately we haven't had the chance to go yet. But after a recent trip to Italy, the wife and I are eager to explore more of Europe. What better place to start than a trip to Scotland?

CDSNA: Is there anything you would like to add to CDSNA or have a personal comment on your experience?
CM: Joining the clan has opened a whole new aspect to my life. Becoming Co-Regent has given me the opportunity to explore my Scottish roots and to share that rich heritage with so many other people. I've met countless people with similar interests, and have learned so much. The friends that I've made along the way, and the fun I have had makes this one of the most rewarding times of my life.
