Clan Douglas 2011 AGM

This year’s CDSNA AGM will be held in Kansas City, MO during the weekend of June 10-12, 2011 and will coincide with the 2011 Kansas City Scottish Highland Games. While not the exact geographic center of North America, Kansas City is about as close as you can get and still have an international airport and a great bar-b-que dinner. Participate in our one Official clan gathering of the year. Come be involved in the workings ofour organization. With the more centralized location, it is our hope that many, many members will choose to attend.

Host hotel for this year’s AGM is Fairfield Inn & Suites KCI, 11820 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City, Missouri 64153 [Phone: 816-464-2424]. This hotel is just minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. The room rate is $81.59 per night ($69.00 plus the 16% or so KC Hotel tax). This rate is available until May 11, after which the non-discount rate is based on hotel availability (and appears to be higher.) CDSNA members wishing to attend the 2011 AGM would need to make their own reservations with Fairfield Inn before May 11th. Since these accommodations (50 rooms) are open reserves for any KC Scottish Festival goers, it would be a good idea to make reservations as soon as possible. Fairfield Inn is approximately 12 miles from Scottish Festival site and offers Free airport shuttle, HOT continental breakfast, high speed internet, indoor pool, room fridge and microwave, and easy access to all major Kansas City area shopping and seasonal attractions.

Bar-B-Que is a Kansas City trademark and Smokehouse Bar-B-Que is one of Kansas City’s finest. The AGM meeting and Banquet will be Saturday, June 11, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Dress will be informal with some in kilts, some not… whatever you chose to wear will be fine. The AGM Banquet will feature Hickory-Smoked BBQ sliced Beef AND 8 oz Chicken Breast. Side items – hickory-pit beans, creamy coleslaw, potatoe salad, bread or rolls, pickles – and drinks – coffee, tea, or soft drinks – are included in the per plate price.

The cost: $25 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. For children 10 and under, the cost is $12.50 per child. Smokehouse Bar-B-Que also offers a cash bar for those wanting more adult beverages.

If you plan on attending the AGM Banquet, reserve your place before May 15, 2011 by sending a check or money order (made out to Clan Douglas of North America) along with a list of persons attending to our Missouri Regent, Harold Edington, 11907 Alberta St., Sugar Creek, MO 64054-1459. Please respond as soon as possible since the numbers attending could possibly affect our dining area.
